Joy Comes In the Morning Light

About a month ago, I bought a microphone and interface to record an audiobook version of House on Sand. Although my original intent was to record my audiobook and I still plan to do this, I have been thoroughly distracted by my equipment. I could not help myself from returning to my first love, which as many of you know is to write and record music. The thought occurred to me that there’s no reason I can’t on occasion write a song and share it with my readers. I am still learning how to do a proper mix and I still have much to learn, but throwing myself into a project like this one is very satisfying.

This song is in many ways a compliment to Ellie’s story in House on Sand and a testimony to God’s amazing way of navigating us through life’s storms. We can become joyful survivors and happier more grateful beings. I hope the song will encourage and bless you.

Here are the lyrics to the song if you’d like to sing along:

Joy Comes in the Morning Light

Verse 1: I didn’t know that I was living life

just the way I pleased.

I didn’t think that I would ever fail,

I’d be crawling on my knees.

Verse 2: Life has a funny way of humbling you,

showing you the truth.

I can’t deny I’d like to run and hide,

but I’m holding on to you.

Chorus: You’re my shelter in the storm.

You’re the bright and morning star.

You’re the joy that comes in the morning light,

telling me it’s all right.

Verse 3: The storm is raging in the dead of night

and I can’t find my peace.

Although I’m feeling Like I’m all alone

You’re never leaving me.

Repeat Chorus 2x

Bridge: Sorrow may come for the night

But joy comes in the morning light Repeat 4x

Repeat Chorus 2X

Telling me it’s all right,

Telling me it’s all right.
